Are you ready to take your empowerment to the next level? Boudoir photography is for everyone. No matter your body type, size, gender, or age—boudoir photography can be a fun and rewarding experience. Let’s take a look at why boudoir photography is so special and how
Preparing for Your Boudoir SessionThese are just a few questions my clients wonder about in the weeks or days leading up to their boudoir photo shoot. As your boudoir photographer, it's my job to be sure I've answered as many questions as possible before you even ask them! I know that this can be intimidating for newcomers, especially if you don't know how to prepare for your boudoir session! In the efforts to help you better understand what preparing for a boudoir photo shoot entails These boudoir tips should help you get ready for your photo shoot.
The Week BeforeA healthy body is a beautiful body. Caring for yourself the week before your shoot is the best way to ensure you get stunning pictures. The most important thing to do is stay hydrated. Hydrated skin is soft and dewy, which will give you a gorgeous glow in your photos. Moisturizing frequently will give your skin a smooth, pretty look. Catching up on sleep is also a must. Proper rest gives your body time to rejuvenate itself and gives you a healthy glow in your photos. If you wax, be sure to make that appointment a few days before your shoot. Getting a manicure and pedicure is also a great way to look clean and fresh. Painted nails look wonderful in boudoir, but French tips or even natural nails might complement your planned outfits better. Please don't use any artificial tanning before your session. Not only does it not photograph well, but there also won't be time to fix it should anything go wrong. Natural, clean skin is ideal for your photos. Pin some of your favorite boudoir shots and poses on Pinterest & send them my way. The idea isn't to duplicate the exact photos but it will give me a good feel for what you like (and we can always try to get close to the inspiration). Follow me on Pinterest @ColoSpringsBoud and we can even create a "secret" mood board together.
It's okay to have a lot of questions about what lingerie to wear for a boudoir session, whether you have done a shoot before or not. Every session of a boudoir photoshoot is meant to be unique - even if the reasons are the same. There is a lot to consider to make the best of a boudoir shoot. You must choose the right day and time, find a skilled photographer, and pick the right clothing that complements the occasion. I will not lie - choosing or shopping for the right clothes to wear for a boudoir shoot is a delicate science. While there are no rigid rules on what to wear, here are the general rules you can follow in choosing what makes you feel confident, sexy, and on top of the world.
Rule Number 1: Do Not Assume; Always Try it OutMost women's sense of fashion, especially when it comes to lingerie, bras, and underwear, is shaped by other people. They get suggestions based on what other people, mostly men, see (or do not). The first rule in bringing out your best during a boudoir shoot is to eliminate the notion that all nude or only laced lingerie is sexy. There are many options for props and clothing before a boudoir shoot. Most women never regret shopping specifically for a shoot. Shopping for the right undies, bras, and lingerie is a fun and rewarding part of a boudoir shoot. The most crucial element is to choose clothing that suits your style and makes you look and feel amazing. There is no harm in trying something new either - you will never know how great you look until you try it.
How Can Pinterest Help You Prepare For Your Boudoir SessionWhether you are doing a solo boudoir photo session or a couples session, it can be difficult to prepare for your session beforehand to ensure that you get the results that you are looking for. Of course, communication with your photographer is key prior to the session, but Pinterest can be the key to helping you communicate what you are aiming for. There is a plethora of boudoir images on Pinterest that could inspire you and help prepare for your session. Sure, you could bounce around a lot of different photography websites, but that can be time consuming for one, and all photographers have their own style of shooting. With Pinterest, you can simply type in things like “boudoir wardrobe ideas, boudoir posing ideas, couples boudoir poses, boudoir accessory ideas” and you will instantly have PLENTY of images to just scroll through all in one spot. See something that fits your style, taste or personality? Simply save the images or links and send them over to your photographer. This will give your photographer a general idea of what you are aiming for, as well as the type of poses you will be comfortable with.
