Frequently Asked Questions
A Male Boudoir Photographer? Hmm....
Ah yes, the big question! Some women are unsure about a male boudoir photographer, while some prefer them.
There are actually quite a few benefits to having a male boudoir photographer. Boudoir as an industry is dominated by women photographers because of the perception that the client and her spouse will feel more comfortable if they are shot by a woman. Men and women typically see women differently. Through a different set of experiences, a different pair of eyes, and a different intent/goals. What men find sexy and what women find sexy are typically different things. Know one thing, that both male and female photographers are focusing on posing, lighting, emotion and experience. We are not looking at ‘you’ but at creating the best images. I promise you will have a comfortable, fun and professional experience.
Do I need to lose weight before my shoot?
No way! You are beautiful as you are right now. We have a lot of experience working with curvy and plus-size women, and we know how to photograph & pose you in the most flattering way possible. We’ll accentuate your curves, show off your best features, and make sure any features you might not love don’t take center stage in your photos. Boudoir photography is for every woman – celebrate the stage you’re at right now.
I don’t look like a model – Is a Boudoir shoot for me?
Absolutely! All of the photos you see throughout our website are of beautiful everyday women – not models who know what they’re doing! We’ll help you accentuate your natural beauty and feel confident, no matter who you are or what you do
Do I have to do my own hair and makeup?
Nope! Our expert hair and makeup artist will help you get dolled up on-site right before your photoshoot, so you don’t need to go to multiple locations.
Where will my boudoir session take place? Do you have a studio?
Colorado Springs Boudoir has a beautiful natural light studio on E. Bijou Street in downtown Colorado Springs. It’s wood floors, white walls, minimal furniture, no clutter, and more natural light than we know what to do with. Ok just kidding…we know exactly what to do with it! On-location photo shoots are welcome if you would feel more comfortable in your own space, or if you have this ONNNEE place that you are just DYING to shoot at! Scheduling needs to be done a little further in advance, but we love these sessions. On-location shooting is available for a small additional fee! Just ask!
Do You Retouch The Photos?
We can do as much or as little editing as you would like. Most of us have areas that we want to diminish and areas that we want to play up. We know how to do touch ups in post processing so that you look like the BEST version of you. We follow your lead on editing and will do as much or as little as you would like
Do you have the right to post my photos?
As a boudoir photographer, I take my client’s privacy very very seriously. When you come to me our entire professional relationship is based on trust. When you sign a contract with the studio to book a session, you’re not signing a document that says I can share your images. After the shoot, I will present you with a separate document called a “Permission Slip.” This puts you in the driver’s seat as far as your images go. You can choose to share your images, share them anonymously, or not share them at all. No pressure is ever placed on you to do that. That being said, all the clients you see on my site are gals just like you (non-models) who came in scared and unsure of their ability to experience a boudoir shoot. When you honor us with sharing your images, we show ALL women that they too can do this. I’ve also been asked on occasion to sign a non-disclosure agreement, and once I review the terms of the agreement, I’d be happy to sign one.
Can I have someone with me at my Boudoir session?
Sometimes your best friend is exactly what you need to calm your nerves and give you the reassurance you need to get started with your session! I don’t mind at all if there is one friend with you as long as they don’t interfere with the shoot (running in to “touch you up” in between every shot, directing your posing, etc) as I will handle anything along those lines that needs done. However I do not allow any more than 1 friend in the room with you. Want to do one better than having a friend there for moral support??? Why don’t you book your shoots back to back so you can both enjoy the experience together?! Availability, pending, of course.
