Meet Our Team
Colorado Springs’s boudoir photography team… at your service!
My name is James Tarver, I’m the owner, photographer and artist for Colorado Springs Boudoir. This is my story of how I became a boudoir photographer. My story began 8 years ago in Seattle where I shot my first boudoir session. At the time, I really didn’t know what Boudoir was all about, it was just something that I heard of and wanted to give it a try. After only a few sessions I began to see how special it made my clients feel, they felt beautiful, empowered and strong. It was then that I realized that Boudoir was so much more that just taking pictures, it is about providing them with an experience that they carry with them for life. My love for photography turned into my passion for photograph boudoir. Eight years later, I am here in Colorado Springs helping women fall in love with themselves all over again. Boudoir is so powerful, it empowers your body, mind and soul which is what makes it so rewarding for me. Currently I am a certified photographer by the Professional Photographers of America which mean that you can have confidence that your are in good hands. an active member of AIBP: Association of International Boudoir Photographers, Boudoir International and the Colorado Springs Photographers Guild.
I’m a hair & makeup professionally licensed cosmetologist based out of Colorado Springs, who is passionate about making women look our best so we can feel our best. I want to make women of all ages feel confident & enhance their natural beauty. I believe when you feel beautiful, you feel confident, you look confident. I love enhancing natural beauty because less is so much more. I’ve been in the industry for 8+ years, doing hair & makeup for commercial shoots such as Dr. Dee’s Animal Planet in Alaska, weddings, boudoir shoots, family portraits, editorials, and military balls, just to name a few. Being in this ever changing industry, there’s always something new or new-cycled so continuous education results in keeping up with the latest fads and trends, but my favorite look is timeless natural beauty. I grew up in sunny California, where I got the best of both worlds.. Napa wine country & San Francisco Bay Area, where I was first exposed to hair & makeup. They say when you’re doing what you love, you’re not working a day in your life. Half true, the paperwork can feel like you’re working a whole lot!
Why I shoot Boudoir?
As a Boudoir photographer, I frequently get the question “Why boudoir?” The answer to that is simple. Boudoir is so much more than just photographing women in lingerie. It is a very empowering experience not only for the women in front of my camera, but for me too! Helping women see themselves as strong, sexy, individuals through their own eyes is extremely rewarding. I want to be a part of that transformation that occurs as they start seeing how truly remarkable they are from the images we capture of them during their photo shoot.
